Cody Kessler finds Darreus Rogers on USC Hail Mary

Sep 27, 2014

Arizona's Hail Mary that won it a game against Cal a week ago apparently didn't teach other Pac-12 defenses how to avoid being on the losing end of the desperate play -- or maybe it taught the conference offenses how to best execute it.

The USC Trojans found themselves reaching for a score to end the first half of what became a 35-10 victory against Oregon State, and they gave the Pac-12 a completed Hail Mary for the second week in a row.

Trojans wideout Darreus Rogers came out of the end zone a tad to nab this pass from quarterback Cody Kessler, but the play wasn't too dissimilar from Anu Solomon's game-winning touchdown Hail Mary to Wildcat teammate Austin Hill last week. Both Kessler and Solomon extended the play by rolling right out of the pocket to buy time, and both were close to midfield.

And likewise, the defenders didn't bat the ball down, or even get in front of the receivers to do so.
