ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The Arizona men's golf team finished the opening day of the William H. Tucker Intercollegiate in a tie for 12th place after shooting 616 (+40) as a team.
The Wildcats will play the tournament's final 18 holes on Saturday beginning at 6:45 a.m. MST.
Senior Erik Oja paced Arizona with a two-round total of 145 (+1). Oja shot a 75 (+3) in the morning, but came back strong in the afternoon with a two-under 70 to move into a tie for eighth place. He is five shots off the pace for the individual medal after the opening 36 holes.
Junior Alex McMahon finished the day in a tie for 61st with a total of 156 (+12), while classmate Tucker Wadkins shot 159 (+15) on Friday to enter into a 79th-place tie. Junior Dylan Kornberg and senior Benson Liu shot 160 (+16) and 161 (+17), respectively, to finish the day in ties for 82nd and 86th place.
Of Arizona's three individuals in the tournament, senior Christian Colegrove was the best on Friday with a seven-over total of 151. He currently stands in a tie for 32nd place. Juniors Ricky Lee and Brenden Redfern reside in 101st and 102nd place after Friday's action with totals of 168 (+24) and 170 (+26), respectively.
