Ka?Deem Carey a Maxwell Award Semifinalist

TUCSON, Ariz. University of Arizona junior running back Ka’Deem Carey is a semifinalist for the 2013 Maxwell Player of the Year Award, it was announced by the Maxwell Football Club on Tuesday. He is one of five Pac-12 players to make the list and one of four running backs recognized.

Carey, the 2012 national rushing champion and a consensus All-American, is also a member of the Doak Walker Award and Walter Camp Football Foundation Player of the Year Award. He is currently the FBS leader with an average of 153.3 rushing yards per game entering play this week. Carey is also the active FBS leader for consecutive 100-yard rushing games (10) and he has taken over the FBS lead among active players for career total touchdowns (42).

The Tucson, Ariz., native also leads all active players by averaging 109.1 rushing yards per game over his career. Plus, Carey is tied with two players for the career rushing touchdown lead in the FBS (39).

The winner of the 77th Maxwell Award will be announced as part of the Home Depot College Football Awards Show, airing on ESPN on Dec. 12. Three finalists will be announced on Nov. 25 and a second round of voting will take place at that time.
