TUCSON, Ariz. – Paced by No. 91 junior Kendall Prince and her top-10 standing, No. 12 Arizona women's golf moved up to third place on day two of the SunTrust Gator Women's Invitational with a 287 (+7). Play will resume at 6 a.m. MST/PT on Sunday as the Wildcats play with No. 37 Kent State and No. 30 Ohio State.
Held at Mark Bostick Golf Course in Gainesville, Fla., competition will take place Fri.-Sun., March 14-16. One round of play will be contested each day with 6 a.m. MST/PT tee times. Mark Bostick Golf Course is a par 70, 6,002-yard club.
No. 37 Kent State took over the lead in the team race with a second-round score of 279. They total a 575 (+15). No. 30 Ohio State sits in second place with a 580 (+20). No. 12 Arizona, No. 32 Texas A&M and No. 29 Virginia share a tie for third place with totals of 581 (+21). The Cats were seven strokes better on day two with a 287 (+7) and are just six strokes off the team lead. Marjiosse Navarro of Texas A&M leads the individual race with a 140 (E).
Prince moved from 25th to 10th after her round two score of 70 (E). She holds a combine total of 144 (+4). Freshman Jessica Vasilic moved from 25th to a 10-way tie for 11th place. She shot a 71 (+1) for a combined score of 145 (+5).
No. 21 sophomore Lindsey Weaver and junior Andrea Vilarasau share a seven-way tie for 21st place. Up from 38th place after round one, Weaver holds rounds of 75 and 71 for a score of 146 (+6). Vilarasau shot a 75 in the second round to bring her score to 146 (+6).
No. 36 freshman Wanasa Zhou rounds out the Arizona five in a four-way tie for 44th place. She has a score of 151 (+11) with rounds of 75 and 76. Playing as an individual, Manon Gidlai sits in a four-way tie for 50th place. Her rounds of 79 and 74 total 153 (+13).
