Men?s Basketball Scores No. 1 Seed in West Region

TUCSON, Ariz. The Arizona men’s basketball team earned the 31st NCAA Tournament berth in program history on Sunday, garnering the No. 1 seed in the West Region from the selection committee. The Wildcats will face Weber State on Friday in second-round action at Viejas Arena in San Diego.

After claiming its 13th regular-season Pac-12 title and reaching the Pac-12 Tournament title game, Arizona will be a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament for the sixth time in NCAA history. The Wildcats have a 13-5 (.722) record as a top seed in the NCAA Tournament.

UA is 48-29 (.623) all-time in the NCAA Tournament, with 15 Sweet 16 appearances, nine Elite Eight runs, four Final Four appearances and the 1997 national championship to its credit. The Wildcats are making their third NCAA Tournament appearance in five seasons under head coach Sean Miller, who has led Arizona to a pair of Sweet 16s and an Elite Eight showing.

The regular-season and tournament champions from the Big Sky Conference, Weber State is making its first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2007. The Wildcats are 19-11 on the year and are led in scoring by Davion Berry at 19.1 points per game.
