Stacked Field Awaits No. 8 Women?s Golf in Tempe

TUCSON, Ariz. No. 8 Arizona women’s golf (ranking by Golfweek.com) will continue the spring season with the PING/ASU Invitational, hosted by ASU. Held at ASU Karsten Golf Course in Tempe, Ariz., competition will take place Fri.-Sun., April 4-6.

One round of play will be contested each day with 8 a.m. MST/PT tee times for Friday and Saturday and a 7:30 a.m. MST/PT start on Sunday. ASU Karsten Golf Course is a par 72, 6,223-yard club.

Juniors Manon Gidali and Andrea Vilarasau, sophomore Lindsey Weaver and freshmen Jessica Vasilic and Wanasa Zhou will be competing for the Wildcats this weekend. By Golfweek.com, Weaver is ranked No. 17, Vasilic is No. 80 and Vilarasau is No. 95. By golfstat.com, Weaver is ranked No. 36.

No. 9 Arizona, No. 6 Arizona State, No. 34 California, No. 3 Duke, No. 5 Oklahoma, No. 30 Oregon, No. 7 South Carolina, No. 8 Stanford, No. 53 Texas, No. 39 UC Davis, No. 2 UCLA, No. 12 Vanderbilt, No. 11 Washington and No. 77 Washington State will play in Tempe this weekend. Last time out, the Wildcats picked up their first win of the 2013-14 season with a victory at the SunTrust Gator Women’s Invitational (March 14-16). Arizona won with a score of 866 (+26) and rounds of 294, 287 and 285. Vasilic was Arizona’s top golfer for the first time this season in a three-way tie for second place. She fired rounds of 74, 71 and 70 for a score of 215 (+5). She collected her best individual finish as a collegian and her collegiate low tournament score. She moved up from 11th to top two on the final day of play.
