Arizona Routs NAU 4-0

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. The University of Arizona women's soccer team traveled to Flagstaff, Ariz. on Friday, Aug. 28 and beat Northern Arizona by a score of 4-0.

“I thought it was a good overall performance for us,” head coach Tony Amato said. “They had a big crowd and any time you play an in-state opponent there will be high energy. We had three good set piece goals and I thought we looked dangerous in those situations.”

Arizona continued the trend by outshooting NAU 14-5. Lainey Burdett got her third win of the season in the cage, but Rachel Estopare entered the game at the beginning of the second half.

The Wildcats got off to a good start as they found the back of the net in the 11th minute with a goal from Haley Silverberg, which was her second career goal. Gabi Stoian assisted Silverberg on the goal, which gives her nine career assists and is now tied for sixth on the Arizona all-time assist list.

In the 32nd minute, Arizona took a 2-0 lead after Paige Crouch scored off an assist from Jaden DeGracie, which would be the score when the teams headed to the locker room for halftime.

The second half was a dream start for Arizona as Hannah Stevens scored her first career goal in the 48th minute off a set piece to give the Wildcats a 3-0 lead.

Arizona extended their lead to 4-0 after Hayley Estopare's shot in the 72nd minute made it to the back of the net off another assist from DeGracie. Estopare's goal tonight marks the second time she has scored this season. DeGracie two assists moves her into a tie for second on the all-time Arizona assist list with 14.

Arizona is back in action on Friday, Sept. 4 when they travel to Tempe, Ariz. for the Sun Devil Desert Classic to take on San Diego State at 4:30 p.m. MST.
