TUCSON - Sixteenth-ranked Arizona defeated Savannah State in straight sets (25-12, 25-12, 25-14) to close out the nonconference season.
Arizona hit .435 in the match while limiting Savannah State to an .075 percentage.
Freshman Kendra Dahlke set a career-high with 12 kills while Kalei Mau notched her fifth consecutive double-digit kill match with 13. Tyler Spriggs added 13 as well.
Mau and Penina Snuka were named to the Wildcat Classic all-tournament team. Amy Neal from Texas, which went 3-0 in the event, was named the most outstanding player. The full all-tournament team is listed below.
Arizona overwhelmed the Tigers in all three sets, never allowing the visitors to score more than 14 points in a frame.
The Cats concluded the nonconference portion of their schedule 10-2, with its only losses to No. 13 Ohio State and second-ranked Texas. Pac-12 play is up next for the Wildcats, which open the conference schedule in Tempe with a battle against No. 10 ASU on Thursday.
After taking No. 2 Texas on Friday, Arizona will face a top-10 team in each of the next four weeks. Such is life in the Pac-12.
