FORT WORTH, Texas – The Arizona Women's Tennis team completed the Big 5 Challenge on Sunday. It was once again
Emma Wilson who stole the show, defeating yet another top 40 player Jaeda Daniel from Auburn. The last Wildcat to beat a top 40 player was
Lauren Marker in the 2016-17 season. Marker had defeated #23 ranked Gabby Smith from USC.
Wilson def. Jaeda Daniel 7-6 (5), 7-5. A. Bojczuk was victorious against
Camila Wesbrooks 7-6 (4), 6-2. B. Broda beat
Csenge Furak 6-2, 4-6, 10-4. M. Meredith def.
Marie Van Aelst 6-3, 4-6, 10-4. M. Koscielski came away with the victory against
Talya Zandberg 6-1, 7-6.
Gitte Heynemans had a great win against Z. Taylor 6-3, 6-4. L. Song def.
Taylor Tamblyn 6-7 (6), 6-4, 11-9.
"Another day where we competed with many of the top players from elite programs. It showed that we are making great progress," said head coach
Ryan Stotland. "Another great top 40 win for Emma that shows how far along her development has come to beat top ranked players in back to back days in straight sets is another impressive feat. Overall this tournament gave us some great things to look forward to for the next one."
Wilson will compete next weekend at the ITA All-American Pre-Qualifying matches.
