Arizona Takes Third at Wildcat Invitational

TUCSON, Ariz. -- The defending national champion Arizona Wildcats took home third place at the Wildcat Invitational on Tuesday.

The host Wildcats got off to a hot start, holding a lead for much of the round. Senior Bianca Pagdanganan had one of the best rounds of the day, posting a 2-under-par 70. She finished in a tie for fourth overall, her second consecutive top-5 finish.

Senior Haley Moore shot a final round 77, finishing at 7-over for the tournament and in a tie for 11th. Freshman Ya Chun Chang finished in a tie for 16th, resulting in back-to-back top-20 finishes for her. Sophomore Yu-Sang Hou played solid down the stretch, posting a final round 76 and tying for 22nd. Junior Sandra Nordaas played the front nine in 2-under on her way to a round of 78 and a tie for 39th. Senior Desiree Hong carded an 81, finishing the week in a tie for 75th.

"The conditions out here at Sewailo were really tough," said head coach Laura Ianello. "The team was prepared, but we did not execute this week. We came away with a third-place finish, which was disappointing. We wanted to take the victory being at home. We need to build from this, learn from this, learn what our mistakes were. I'm not worried. This group of young women works hard, and we're still destined to do great things this year."

The Wildcats will be back in action on March 21st when they compete in the Hawkeye Invitational in Puerta Vallarta. Arizona will be defending its title at the event.
