Arizona Women’s Basketball Selected to Host WNIT vs. Idaho State

TUCSON, Ariz. – For the first time since 2011, Arizona women's basketball will be a part of the postseason as they were selected to the WNIT on Monday night. The Wildcats will host the First Round of the WNIT and will face off against Idaho State for the second time this season on Thursday, March 21 time TBD. In the season opener, Arizona beat Idaho State 71-46.

The last time Arizona played in the postseason was the 2011 WNIT when the Wildcats lost in the first round to Utah State in Logan, Utah and the last time Arizona hosted a postseason game was during the 2001 WNIT when Arizona beat Pepperdine.

This season, Arizona has won 18 games as well as seven conference games for the first time since the 2010-11 season, making it their first winning season since the 2010-11 season as well. After winning just six games last year, Arizona has already achieved the largest turnaround in school history with 12 more wins.

The Wildcats are led by the nation's third-leading scorer and the Arizona single-season scoring record holder Aari McDonald. The redshirt sophomore is currently seventh on the Pac-12 single-season scoring list with 774 points and is one of two players in conference history to have 750 points and 130 assists in one season (Kelsey Plum).

Arizona will find out later tonight who they will face in the first round and where the game will be played.
