Wildcats Win El Tigre Invitational by 36 Shots

PUERTO VALLARTA, Mex. -- The Arizona women's golf team successfully defended their title on Saturday at the El Tigre Invitational. The Cats finished the tournament at 10-under-par, 36 strokes ahead of second place.

Senior Bianca Pagdanganan had a masterful performance, winning the individual competition by six shots after a final round 67 (-5). Sophomore teammate Yu-Sang Hou finished in solo second after an even-par final round. Freshman Ya Chun Chang placed third, her career-best finish, after carding six birdies in the final round.

Senior Haley Moore recorded another top-ten finish after an even-par final round. Junior Sandra Nordaas carded back-to-back rounds of 74 to finish in a tie for 23rd. Senior Desiree Hong finished tied for 46th in the individual competition.

"I'm very proud of the team," said head coach Laura Ianello. "They clinched it today, shooting a total of 10-under par, winning by a very large margin. Bianca Pagdanganan came away with the victory. Yu-Sang Hou finished second alone and Ya Chun Chang finished third. Very proud of the ladies. We still didn't putt as well as we wanted to. Overall, their course management, mental game, preparation, and confidence throughout the week was top notch and that's what brought us home the victory."

This is the Cats second win of the spring season, and third of the 2018-2019 campaign. Arizona won the Pac-12 Preview late in the fall season, and took home the Rebel Beach Invitational title in February. They will be back in action next weekend at the Ping Invitational.
