CORVALLIS, Ore.
Oregon State men's and women's rowing rounded out the fall portion of their schedule welcoming family, friends and alumni to the OSU Boathouse for a successful day on the water.
Nearly 300 attendees, including the Oregon State marching band and Benny the Beaver, gathered to watch the highly competitive racing between the two teams with the Black team earning a 16-12 victory.
Despite the Orange squad put together a four-year streak from 2017-20, the Black team has now won the past two Orange and Black regattas and closed the overall gap to an 8-7 Orange lead.
After enjoying a BBQ by alumni Kirk Hutchinson, the two teams gathered to dedicate three boats, with one on the women's side and two on the men's side.
The first boat was donated by Mark and David Sisson, and dedicated in honor of their late mother, Sherry Sisson. A member of legendary coach Astrid Hancock's team in 1964 and 1965, Sisson, graduated from OSU in 1965 with a degree in electrical engineering; the only woman in her class.
On the men's side, a pair was donated by Greg Moore and dedicated in honor of his cousin Bob "Bingo" Moore a former member of the men's team, while the final dedication was made on the men's eight that was funded by Dam Proud Day donations. All donors for the boat are listed on the stern sticker of the Beaver head.
Following successful fall campaigns for each group, both teams now turn their focus to offseason training, before returning to racing in March.
