BARNES, CARR NAMED TO ACADEMIC ALL-BIG 12 VOLLEYBALL TEAM

 University of Colorado student-athletes Allison Barnes and Nicole Carr were named to the Academic All-Big 12 Conference Volleyball first team announced by the league office on Tuesday.


Barnes, a 6-0 senior setter from Arlington, Texas, was named to the first team for the third-straight time. She is fifth on Colorado's all-time assists list with 1,462 and is also among the school's career leaders in service aces (16th with 77) and digs (19th with 662). A finance and marketing major, Barnes is also a six-time member of the Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll.
           


Carr, a 6-0 junior outside hitter from Wauwatosa, Wis., has earned her second Academic All-Big 12 first team honor. Carr is CU's active career leader in digs with 854 and is averaging 2.43 kills and 2.65 digs this season. A business administration major, Carr is a four-time member of the Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll and has been named to the Dean's List on three occasions.
 


Nominated by each institution's director of student-athlete support services and the media relations offices, the volleyball academic all-league squad consisted of 37 first team members combined with 15 on the second team. First team members consist of those who have maintained a 3.20 or better GPA, while the second team are those who have a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA.
