Feb 27, 2008

BOULDER, Colo. (AP) – Richard Roby scored 17 points and nine rebounds and Marcus Hall added 10 points, however Baylor out-shot Colorado in the second half and ran to a 68-57 victory, Wednesday night.

"I said the other day that our back may be broken but our spirit isn't," said CU head coach Jeff Bzdelik. "I'm very proud of our young men, they hustled until the end.  They just kept battling and scrapping all night.  We had some open shots that we didn't make and in the end the sun is going to come up tomorrow and we'll go back to work.  We're going to strap it on Saturday and go to work.  I am very proud to be coaching this team."

Kevin Rogers scored 24 points for the Bears and Henry Dugat finished with 21, including a season-high five 3-pointers.

Baylor won in Boulder for the first time in nearly 57 years. The victory gives Baylor its first 19-win season since 2000-01.

Baylor (19-8, 7-6 Big 12) entered the game 1-7 lifetime against Colorado in Boulder, its lone win coming on December 15, 1951. The Bears were 0-5 in Boulder since the inception of the Big 12 before their win Wednesday.

Rogers also grabbed 11 rebounds, giving him his fourth straight double-double, and 11th of the season.

The Buffaloes (10-17, 2-11) dropped their fourth straight game, and have now lost 10 of their last 11 contests.

Roby remains third on the team's all-time scoring list, 33 points away from tying Cliff Meely for second place. Roby trails leader Donnie Boyce by 88 points.

Levi Knutson finished with 11 points and Marcus Hall had seven assists and a career-high three blocked shots.

Baylor led by as many as 20 points in the second half, but Colorado trimmed it to 63-54 on a basket by Knutson with 1:10 remaining. However, the Bears went 5-for-7 from the free throw line over the final 1:30 to seal their second straight win.

Colorado will host Iowa State on Saturday, Mar. 1 at 4 p.m. The game will be broadcast on ESPN Classic.
