Buffs Fall to No. 18 Wildcats

MANHATTAN, Kan. - The University of Colorado volleyball team fell to No. 18 Kansas State 15-25, 16-25, 19-25 Saturday night at Ahearn Field house.

 

The loss puts CU at 7-4 overall and 1-1 in the Big 12. KSU is now at 11-2 overall and 1-1 in the Big 12.

 

Amber Sutherland led the Buffs with 10 kills and eight digs. This was the third time this season that Sutherland has recorded ten or more kills. Emilee Sisco added seven kills for the Buffs. Schylur Edelman hit a team-high .400 (5k-1e-10att). Alex Buth also tallied five kills and six digs in the effort.

 

Kansas State held Colorado to a .200 attack percentage (31k-13e-90att) on the night. The Wildcats hit .387 (47k-11e-93att).

 

Kansas State held the lead for the first two games. Even though the Buffs managed to tie the Wildcats three times during the third game, Kansas State came out victorious.

 

Lauren Schaefer returned to the CU line-up after missing the Kansas match last Wednesday night in Boulder. Schaefer recorded three kills and hit .182.

 

Colorado recorded one team block compared to Kansas State's 6.0.  The teams were relatively even when it came to digs, with the Buffs totaling 34 to the Wildcat's 37.

 

The Buffs return home to host Texas A&M on Saturday, Sept. 27. The match time is set for 6:30 p.m.
