National Girls & Women In Sports Day Saturday

Feb 8, 2012

BOULDER -- University of Colorado Athletics is celebrating National Girls and Women in Sports Day (NGWSD) on Saturday, Feb. 11, at the Coors Events Center beginning at 5:30 p.m. and is inviting all kids in 8th grade and under to be a part of the celebration.

NGWSD was chartered by the U.S. Congress in 1986 to honor female athletic achievement and recognize the importance of sports and fitness participation for all girls and women.

Prior to CU's women's basketball game on Saturday all kids (boys and girls) in 8th grade and under are invited to participate in skills and fitness stations run by CU female student-athletes. The skills and fitness stations will be held from 5:30 to 6:45 p.m. in Colorado's sparkling new basketball and volleyball practice facility at the Coors Events Center.

The first 500 kids who complete the stations will earn a free CU T-shirt as well as free snacks courtesy of WhiteWave foods.

Following the skills stations, stick around and cheer on the Buffs as they face Arizona State at 7 p.m.

All activities, including the women's basketball game are FREE for kids and adults participating in or attending the skill stations.  To receive free general admission you must enter the Coors Events Center through the northwest entrance between 5 and 5:45 p.m.   After 5:45 p.m. fans can purchase kids tickets for $3 and adult tickets for $8.
