Three With CU Ties In Top 30 At Colorado Open

DENVER - Former CU star Erin (Kerr) Houtsma and her sister Colleen Kerr are in the lead of the pro-am competition and Houtsma along with Jenny Coleman and Jess Wallace are all in the top 30 after the first round of the 18th Annual HealthONE Colorado Women's Open, held this week at the Green Valley Ranch Golf Club.  

Coleman, who just completed her sophomore campaign at CU, is tied for 12th after posting a 2-over par 74, while Houtsma is tied for 15th at 3-over par 75 and Wallace, making her professional debut after finishing her senior season in Boulder less than a week ago, is tied for 30th at 5-over par 77.  

Houtsma and Kerr are tied for first at 7-under par 65 in the pro-am competition alongside Joy Trotter and Al Linton of Longmont.   

Denver amateur Somin Lee, who plays collegiatly for Pepperdine, and Trotter are both tied for first posting 3-under par 69s in the first round.  

Play continues Thursday with the second round and will conclude Friday with the top 46 players and 14 teams competing in the pro-am competition making the cut.

All three Buffs and Kerr teed off in the morning Wednesday and will be a part of the afternoon wave on Thursday.  Houtsma and Kerr will tee off at 12:55 p.m. on the first tee, followed by Wallace at 1:50 p.m. off of No. 10 with Coleman being a part of the final group fo the day, 2:20 p.m. off of No. 10.
