Northern Arizona Hands Buffs First Loss Of Season

BOULDER— Northern Arizona University comeback to defeat the University of Colorado volleyball team 3-1 (24-26, 25-21, 25-22, 25-19) on Saturday afternoon at the Omni Hotels Colorado Volleyball Classic.

NAU improved to 5-0 on the season and has won the last 14 non-conference matches dating back to 2011. CU now owns a 4-1 overall record.

Junior Nikki Lindow recorded 15 kills for the Buffs and freshman Alexis Austin added 13 in the effort. As a team the Buffs combined for 56 kills and hit .188. Janae Vander Ploeg had a match-high 21 kills for NAU. The Lumberjacks tallied 60 kills and hit .217 in the match.

The Buffs outblocked NAU with 11.0 team blocks to NAU's 10.0. Lindow had nine blocks (three solos and six assists) and freshman Nicole Edelman added four block assists. CU picked up 57 digs and was led by freshman Chelsey Keoho's 13 digs.  Anna Gott had a match-high 25 digs for NAU.

The Omni Classic continues at 4 p.m. with a match between Cornell and NAU. The final match of the tournament will be between Fresno State and CU at 7 p.m.
