Pac-12 gets the trifecta

With Oregon taking care of Oklahoma State, Arizona besting Belmont and Cal defeating UNLV, the Pac-12 pitched a perfect game on Thursday with a 3-0 record.

How often does this happen? Well, it is the first time since 2009 that every Pac-12 team has won an NCAA tournament game on the same day with at least three teams playing.

Overall, it is the sixth time since 1985 (when the NCAA tournament expanded to 64 teams) that the Pac has gone at least 3-0 on a certain day; it has now happened in the 1997, 2001, 2003, 2008, 2009 and 2013 NCAA tournaments. In fact, the then-Pac-10 actually went 3-0 on two different days in the 1997 Big Dance, as Cal, UCLA and Arizona all won their first and second round games on the same day without any other conference constituents taking a loss.

Now you might be thinking to yourself, 'Has the Pac-12 ever gone 4-0 in a single day?' Why yes it has.

This is the 10-year anniversary of that happening, when Arizona, Arizona State, Stanford and Cal all won their first-round games on March 20, 2003. Oregon lost its first-round game that year ... the next day.
