Another set of basketball twins at Stanford

Oct 17, 2013

Good players come in twos on The Farm. Jason and Jarron Collins. Robin and Brook Lopez. Yes, the history of twins at Stanford goes back a little bit, and there’s a new chapter to be added this year with the addition of Marcus and Malcolm Allen.

They might be freshmen, but Marcus and Malcolm Allen have had Cardinal red in their blood since day one. Their mother Trina was a Stanford gymnast, and the two spent numerous summers in Palo Alto at Stanford basketball camps.

Now the two are all grown up and ready to make a splash on the collegiate scene. “They’re going to provide depth on the perimeter for us,” head coach Johnny Dawkins said at Pac-12 Men’s Basketball Media Day. Marcus is the more heralded of the two as a top-75 recruit according to Scout and can provide good scoring, while Dawkins sees Malcolm as “more of a floor general” and someone who can distribute the rock. Scout ranked Malcolm as a top-30 point guard.

Sure, Marcus and Malcolm are 10-12 inches shorter than their two-of-a-kind predecessors, but look for them to make a large impact in the future.
