SAN FRANCISCO – The Washington State women’s basketball team traveled overseas this summer on a 10-day trip through Austria, Slovakia and the Czech Republic, which proved to be a great confidence boost for the Cougars.

“They represented us well on and off the court," said head coach June Daugherty Thursday during Pac-12 Women's Basketball Media Day at Pac-12 Studios, "and we played against good competition, which was a great step for us to get ready for a big season."

The Cougars arrived in Vienna Aug. 7 and in a span of 10 days also traveled to Bratislava and Prague, where they took in sights such as St. Stephen’s Cathedral, Schonrunn Palace, Prater Amusement Park, the Bratislava Castle and the Vltava River before returning home Aug. 16.

While abroad, the team faced tough international teams in Levice, Hradec Králové, Lokomotiva Karlovy Vary and BLK VSE Praha, winning each contest.

“We went to Europe and won them all, played some great competition and gained some great confidence,” Daugherty said. “We’re looking forward to start playing some games because we feel like we’ve been practicing longer than most people right now.”
