Bears Fall 2-1 to Maryland in NCAA Quarterfinal

A lot had changed from Cal and Maryland’s first meeting this season on Sept. 1 to the pair’s NCAA quarterfinal matchup Saturday. The Bears were unranked before they beat the then No. 2 Terrapins, 3-2, in overtime. There was no creeping up on No. 4 Maryland in the NCAA tournament though, as No. 6 Cal lost, 2-1, at home at Edwards Stadium. Cal’s Stefano Bonomo tied the the score early in the second half, but Maryland won the game on a goal in the 86th minute to advance to the College Cup.

Huskies' Magical Season Ends With 1-0 Loss In Elite Eight

Records, streaks, rankings — none of it matters in the postseason. Despite a Pac-12 championship, five consecutive wins and a No. 2 seed, the Washington men’s soccer team fell, 1-0, to seventh-seeded New Mexico in the NCAA tournament quarterfinals Saturday. The Huskies wrapped their best season in school history, with their first-ever Elite Eight appearance.
