Stanford's Randle voted Pac-12 men's basketball Player of the Week
WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - STANFORD junior guard Chasson Randle has been named Pac-12 Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for play from Dec. 17-22, the Conference office announced today.
The Rock Island, Ill. native played 40 minutes in two games over the course of the week, averaging 20 points per game and a .500 shooting percentage to help the Cardinal to an upset victory over No. 10 Connecticut on the road before falling in a closely-fought match to Michigan on neutral territory. In the 53-51 win over the Huskies, Randle recorded a game-high 22 points and scored four of Stanford’s six three-pointers as the team rallied from a 13-point second-half deficit. He shot a .500 percentage (8-of-16) from the field, adding five rebounds and two assists. Later that week versus Michigan, the junior guard scored a team-high 18 points in a 68-65 loss along with four rebounds, an assist and a steal. Randle frequented the charity stripe in the game, making 10 of his total 11 shots from the free-throw line and gave him a .857 free-throw percentage over the course of the week.
It marks the first-career Player of the Week selection for Randle. It is also the 46th weekly selection for Stanford all-time.
The Cardinal closes out its non-conference slate this week by hosting Cal Poly on Sunday, Dec. 29 at 4 p.m. PT. The game will be broadcast on Pac-12 Networks.
