Women's gymnastics season starts up

The women’s gymnastics season is set to start this Sunday, Jan. 5 as STANFORD and CALIFORNIA travel to Sacramento to take part in the NorCal Meet beginning at 2 p.m. PT.  The Cardinal and Golden Bears will be competing against other local teams including Sacramento State, UC Davis and San Jose State.

In a preseason poll of the Pac-12 women’s gymnastics coaches, UCLA was voted the favorite to win the championship this upcoming season with Utah close behind in second place. All eight Pac-12 teams were ranked in the top 25 in the national preseason coaches poll with three teams in the top 10. The Bruins led the way with a fourth place ranking, the Utes were sixth, and the Cardinal round out the top ten rankings for the Pac-12 sitting in ninth. The Beavers are in the top half of the rankings, as well, at 12th. The Wildcats, Huskies and Sun Devils who are ranked 17th, 20th and 25th respectively represent the Pac-12 in the second half of the national rankings.
