Roundup: Unselfish Wildcats still unbeaten

Arizona Athletics

Arizona

The unselfish, unbeaten and top-ranked Wildcats blasted Arizona State 91-68 last night in Tucson, a game owned by the home team from the jump. SEVEN Wildcats scored in double figures in that game. Also, Anthony Gimino has the Twitter reaction to the Arizona-Arizona State game; great responses from Solomon Hill and Andre Iguodala in particular.

UCLA

Always good to get a road win in conference play, something the Bruins did last night with a 69-56 W over Colorado in Boulder. After the game, Normal Powell talked about the Bruins’ defense with Pac-12 Networks’ Jill Savage.

Utah

Sure, the Utes hardly played anybody of significance out of conference, but you can tell they’re a much better team this year and aren’t too far away from being a team that’s in contention for a tourney bid. Last night was a good reason why, when Utah defeated USC 84-66 in Salt Lake City, and the Utes’ offense was looking better, that’s for sure. Delon Wright is the truth.

California

Thursday was a great day if you’re a Pac-12 volleyball fan, because Cal added women’s sand volleyball as an intercollegiate sport, becoming the seventh Conference of Champions school to do so.

Washington

But wait! We ain’t done yet, because Washington added women’s sand volleyball also, becoming the eighth Pac-12 school to do so. The others with it are USC, UCLA, Stanford, Cal, Arizona, Arizona State and Oregon. You get a sand volleyball team… you get a sand volleyball team… EVERYBODY GETS A SAND VOLLEYBALL TEAM!!!!

Colorado

Since you already know about the loss to UCLA, let’s inform you that Connor Wood is planning to give up football, but has a meeting with Mike MacIntyre today, so that isn’t quite final yet. We’ll update ya on the situation as it develops.

Arizona State

Charli Turner Thorne and company notched a nice upset early this morning as they hold off No. 15 Cal 68-59 in Tempe. Freshman Quinn Dornstauder led the No. 19 Sun Devils with 13 points in just 19 minutes.

Stanford

Sounds like a done deal with mutiple sources reporting Stanford defensive coordinator Derek Mason is on theverge of accepting the Vanderbilt head coaching job. The Bootleg's David Lombardi offers analysis from the Cardinal camp as Mason moves from Stanford to Vanderbilt

Washington State

I think it’s time for a #roundupfirst by letting you know that the Washington State Cheer and Crimson girls are heading to a prestigious competition in Florida called (see if you can remember all of this) the Universal Cheerleaders Association and Universal Dancers Association College Cheerleading and Dance Team National Championships. If I’m not mistaken, it’s more colloquially known as the UCAUDACCDTNC (no “A”s for the “and”s; otherwise it’d be way too clunky).

Oregon State

Civil War in men’s basketball this Sunday at Gill Coliseum, and Oregon State head coach Craig Robinson is hoping to cut down the rotation for the Beavers.

Oregon

Another thing I’m sure you’ll be watching a lot of on Sunday is football, and Oregon fans should keep a keen eye on the action because the NFL conference championship games feature six Ducks: LeGarrette Blount, LaMichael James, Max Unger, Walter Thurmond, Adam Snyder and Will Tukuafu.

USC

USC has hired Chris Wilson as its defensive line coach. Wilson spent last year in the same position at Georgia.
