Cougars Open Practice on the Diamond

PULLMAN, Wash. – With three weeks left until first pitch of the 2014 college baseball season, Washington State opened its spring practice at Bailey-Brayton Field, Friday.

The Cougars return 25 letterwinners from last season, including seven position players who started the majority of games in 2013 and a pitching staff that combined for 52 of 55 starts last season. Five-other position players made at least 13 starts a year ago.

Washington State travels to Cal State Fullerton, the top-ranked team in the preseason poll by Collegiate Baseball, for a season-opening three-game series, Feb. 14-16. The Cougars play their first series at home, Feb. 21-24, against Western Carolina.
