Shibuya to Coach U.S. Youth Team

STANFORD, Calif. – Stanford associate men’s volleyball coach Ken Shibuya has been named the head coach of the U.S. Boys’ Youth Team, USA Volleyball announced in January.

Joining Shibuya on the staff as assistant coaches will be Kris Burzins from Loyola of Chicago and Brad Keller of UCLA. The U.S. Boys’ Youth Team finished 16th at the 2013 FIVB U19 World Championships after finishing with a bronze medal at the 2012 NORCECA Championships.

Shibuya served as head coach of the 2011 Boys’ Youth National Team and also previously served as an assistant for the squad. Berzins was an assistant coach for the 2013 Boys’ Youth Team, while Keller was an assistant coach for the 2010 Men’s Junior National Team.

The U.S. Boys’ Youth Team will compete in a NORCECA championship at a U.S. site to be determined to try to qualify for the 2015 FIVB U19 World Championship.
