Cats Move to Second at Pac-12 Championships

TUCSON, Ariz. Another cold and rainy day in Corvallis, Ore. didn't stop No. 11 University of Arizona women’s golf as the Wildcats climbed to second after round two at the Pac-12 Championships. Hosted by Oregon State at Trysting Tee Golf Club (par 72, 6,256 yards), competition is being held Fri.-Sun., April 25-27.

No. 2 UCLA continues to lead the team race with a 573 (-3). No. 11 Arizona moved from third to second on day two after shooting a one-under par 287 for a total of 574 (-2). The Wildcats have all five of their players sitting in the top 28 heading into Sunday’s final round. No. 9 Stanford rounds out the top three with a 577 (+1).

No. 13 sophomore Lindsey Weaver shares the lead in the individual race with UCLA’s No. 16 Erynne Lee. Both players hold a total score of 140 (-4). Weaver shot an even-par round of 72 on Saturday. She now has 14 rounds at or below par in 2013-14.

Junior Kendall Prince, No. 35 freshman Wanasa Zhou, and No. 93 freshman Jessica Vasilic share a nine-way tie for 12th place with an overall score of 146 (+2). Prince has rounds of 76 and 70, Zhou with rounds of 72 and 74 while Vasilic has shot a 75 and a 71. The trio all moved up in standing from round one to round two. Rounding out the Arizona five, junior Manon Gidali sits in a four-way tie for 28th place. She shot a 76 (+4) on Saturday for a combined score of 149 (+5).

Round three begins at 9:50 a.m. MST/PT on Sunday for the Wildcats. Arizona is paired with No. 2 UCLA. Live scoring is available at golfstat.com. A complete recap and results will be available at ArizonaWildcats.com after each day of competition.
