Steur Named ITA Player To Watch In Mountain Region

May 15, 2014

BOULDER – University of Colorado senior-to-be Julyette Steur was named one of 12 women’s tennis players to watch by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) announced earlier this week in a list of post-season awards released by the governing body of collegiate tennis.

Of the 12 regions that make up collegiate tennis, Steur was the Mountain Region selection. The other 11 regions are the Atlantic, Carolina, Central, Midwest, Northeast, Northwest, Ohio Valley, Southeast, Southwest, and Texas.

Steur won a team-high 12 spring singles matches at the top singles position for the Buffaloes this past spring. It’s also her second consecutive spring season playing the top singles position.

The Apeldoorn, Netherlands native, majoring in business, won the third-most matches (18) this past year on the team, clinched a pair of team wins, and at the end of the season banquet, earned co-most valuable player honors.

Steur helped CU to a season-high No. 54 nationally ranking in late-February. The Buffs stayed among the ITA’s nationally ranked programs for six straight weeks.
