Day Two in the Books at Palm Springs

PALM SPRINGS, Calif. Senior Laura Oldham and junior Briar Preston were the highlight of the second day of the 2015 National Collegiate Tennis Classic at Sunrise Country Club in Palm Springs, Calif. today as they each earned a victory in the singles portion of the event.

The Wildcats struggled a bit early on in the doubles portion of the event. Sixth ranked doubles partners Zhao /Davidson (Stanford) def. Shayne Austin/Oldham 6-2, Guillermo/Runglerdkriangkrai (Pepperdine) def. Lauren Marker/Preston 6-4 and Gulbe/Maddox (Pepperdine) def. Devin Chypyha/Inge Hendrikx 6-3.

The day got better as singles began immediately after doubles. Oldham def. Naslund (San Diego) 6-0, 6-1, Preston def. Spinosa (San Diego) 6-3, 7-6 (8-6), Kostas (Stanford) def. Austin 6-4, 6-3 and McPhillips (UCLA) def. Marker 6-4, 6-1. Hendrikx and Chypyha were not able to finish their respective singles matches.

Arizona is back in action on Saturday, Jan. 24 at noon as they take on New Mexico in the first home match of the spring season.
