Oregon State’s Harrison Named Player of the Week

Oregon’s Harber Selected Pitcher of the Week

SAN FRANCISCO - OREGON STATE catcher/first baseman KJ Harrison has been named Pac-12 Player of the Week, and Oregon right-handed pitcher Conor Harber has been tabbed Pac-12 Pitcher of the Week, the Conference office announced Monday.

Harrison, a freshman from Kailua, Hawai’i, had an outstanding week for the Beavers, hitting safely in all five games he played. The freshman collected four multi-hit games en route to a 10-for-22 (.455) week. He had two doubles, a triple, two home runs and 10 RBIs over the five games, in which the Beavers went 3-2. He slugged .909 and recorded a .500 on-base percentage as he also walked twice. Additionally, Harrison had a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage while manning both first base and catcher. Harrison has four home runs in eight games this season, an achievement that was not accomplished by an OSU player in 2014 until the 36th game of the season.

Harber, a junior from Astoria, Ore., threw six no-hit innings of relief to help Oregon post its third come-from-behind victory in five games this season, 3-1 over New Mexico State in the Ducks' home opener Thursday Feb 19. This was the second time in two weeks the Ducks planned to throw Harber (2-0) in relief of Cole Irvin, who remains on a pitch count as he builds up his arm strength. After five two-hit innings in a shutout of Hawaii to open the season, Harber upped the ante by going six and not allowing a hit. Oregon had relievers ready if needed, but Harber struck out the final two batters to finish with eight K's on the night and seal the win for the Ducks.

Oregon State will open a weekend series with Grambling State on Friday Feb. 27 at 5:35 p.m. PT, while Oregon plays its next game tomorrow night at home against Portland with a 6 p.m. PT first pitch.
