Pac-12 announces weekly gymnastics honors

Mar 9, 2015

San Francisco – The Pac-12 Conference office announced today the Pac-12 women’s gymnastics weekly honors for the week of Mar. 2 - 8. UTAH’s Georgia Dabritz was named the Gymnast of the Week, STANFORD’s Elizabeth Price was voted Specialist of the Week, and CALIFORNIA’s Toni-Ann Williams was selected as the Freshman/Newcomer of the Week.

UTAH senior Georgia Dabritz earned gymnast of the week honors for the fourth time this season after her performance in No. 4 UTAHS’s victory over No. 5 Michigan on Mar. 6. Dabritz scored a perfect 10.0 on bars and won the all-around with a career-tying 39.70. The nation’s best on the bars, Dabritz’s 10.0 was her seventh career 10.0, her fifth on bars and her third on bars this season. Besides winning the bars and the all-around, Dabritz also tied for first on the floor with a score of 9.95. She is currently ranked third on vault and sixth on floor nationally, in addition to being No. 1 on the bars.

STANFORD freshman Elizabeth Price earned Special Performance of the Week honors this week for her performance in the Cardinal’s meets with No. 8 UCLA and No. 21 WASHINGTON over the last week. Price registered three first-place finishes in three performances, scoring 9.925 or higher in each routine. She made her collegiate floor debut against the Huskies and scored a 9.975. Price produced a pair of 9.950’s on vault to tally individual event victories in both. Her scores against Washington helped Stanford earn a 197.525 – the team’s highest score since 2008. Price has registered individual event victories in 10-of-12 performances this season.

CALIFORNIA freshman Toni-Ann Williams earned Freshman of the Week honors for the sixth time this season. Williams earned her second perfect 10.0 of the season, turned in the program’s fourth-highest all-around score (39.625) and claimed four titles en route to the No. 19 Golden Bears’ program-record score of 197.325 against UC-Davis. She is now the only Cal gymnast to earn two 10.0s on any event. On bars, she set a career-high 9.95, and then she added to the night’s haul by matching her personal-best 9.975 on floor.

A gymnast of the week has been selected every week of the season since 2001. The Specialist of the Week award was added in 2008. It is the third year for Freshman/Newcomer of the Week.
