Roundup: USC men's golf playing for a title

USC

USC men’s golf is playing in the NCAA championship match play final against LSU Wednesday morning after taking care of Texas and Illinois Tuesday in the quarters and semis, respectively. It’s the first NCAA final for the Trojans in program history.

Washington State

Washington State has named Marty Lees its new head baseball coach Wednesday. Lees spent the last three seasons as an assistant at Oklahoma State and was with the Beavers before that. Also, Marc Spears of Yahoo Sports reports that Golden State Warriors guard Klay Thompson can play in Game 1 of the NBA Finals Thursday after passing the NBA’s concussion protocol. The former Coug took a knee to the head from UCLA basketball alum Trevor Ariza in the close-out game of the Western Conference Finals against Houston.

Washington

Washington pitcher Tyler Davis was named the Pac-12 Baseball Scholar-Athlete of the Year, while Arizona State’s Amber Freeman earned the honor for softball.

Utah’s Brekkott Chapman and Arizona signee Allonzo Trier are also on the training camp roster.

Stanford

Earlier this week, Stanford golfer Maverick McNealy won the 2015 Haskins Award, given to the best player in college golf. McNealy led the nation with a scoring average of 68.70.

Oregon State

College football sage Phil Steele named Oregon State offensive lineman Isaac Seumalo a preseason second-team All-American. Gina Mizell has more nuts and bolts.
