Utah

Jakob Poeltl announced that he’s declaring for the NBA Draft on Wednesday morning (Kareem Copeland of the Associated Press). He projects to be a surefire first-round pick and a likely lottery guy come June.

USC

Pretty much at the exact same time, USC announced that Lynn Swann will be the Trojans’ next athletic director once Pat Haden steps down in June. Swann graduated from USC in 1973 and played on two Rose Bowl teams, winning a national championship in 1972. That was a huge couple of minutes for the Pac-12.

Stanford

Buffalo Bills linebacker and former Stanford Cardinal A.J. Tarpley wrote about his decision to retire at the age of 23 for MMQB. A very thoughtful read from a guy who decided that he’s had too many concussions to continue playing.

Washington
