Roundup: Utah baseball back into a tie for 1st

Oh those pesky Utes – Utah baseball defeated Washington State 3-2 Monday night, getting back into a tie for first with Washington in the process. The 18-24 Utes just won't die, and they'll get a shot at the Huskies on the last weekend of the season at home.

Washington State

Washington State football’s Riley Sorenson won the Pac-12 Sportsmanship Award for 2015-16 for the hardship he faced with family health issues.

Arizona State

Doug Haller and Jeff Metcalfe report that Arizona State Vice President for Athletics Ray Anderson is confident that Sun Devil Stadium will be ready for the start of the football season. The stadium is undergoing the second major phase of its renovation.

California

Former Cal rower Jake Wetzel was named Pac-12 Men’s Rower of the Century, while Ky Ebright was named Pac-12 Men’s Crew Coach of the Century.

Stanford

On the women’s side, former Stanford rower Elle Logan was named Pac-12 Woman’s Rower of the Century. She is also a two-time Olympic gold medalist (2008, 2012).

UCLA

Thuc Nhi Nguyen of Inside UCLA lets us know that former UCLA linebacker Anthony Barr is starting a foundation with his mother. The Anthony Barr Foundation will launch next month and “will provide scholarships for tuition and child care for single mothers who want to pursue their college educations.” Lori Barr gave birth to Anthony when she was 19 and in college.

Washington

Cameron DaSilva of FOX Sports believes Washington is one of the five most underrated college football teams in 2016. The Huskies figure to be a contender in the Pac-12 North.

Oregon
