Roundup: Kevin Love inks four-year, $120 million extension with Cleveland Cavaliers

UCLA

Adrian Wojnarowski and Brian Windhorst of ESPN report that Kevin Love has signed a four-year, $120 million contract extension with the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Cavs are still trying to contend despite losing The King to the Lakers.

Colorado

Former Colorado women’s basketball coach Rene Portland died Sunday at the age of 65 (New York Times). Portland was better known for her 27 seasons at the helm of the Penn State program, leading the Lady Lions to the 2000 Final Four.

Arizona State

Former Arizona State runner Shelby Houlihan broke the American record in the 5K (Competitor Running), clocking in with a time of 14 minutes, 34.45 seconds in the Netherlands over the weekend.

California

Cal softball hired Anjelica Selden as the new assistant coach for pitching, head coach Diane Ninemire announced Monday. Selden was a three-time collegiate All-American as a pitcher at UCLA from 2005-09.

Utah

Utah lacrosse assistant coach Marcus Holman helped lead Team USA to the 2018 lacrosse world championship (FIL World Championship) on Saturday in Israel. Holman scored 17 goals and tallied five assists as the Yanks went 7-0 in the tournament, defeating Canada 9-8 in the finals. Utah lacrosse begins D1 play this upcoming season.

Washington

Pac-12 Football Media Day is Wednesday, and Adam Jude of The Seattle Times is picking Washington to win the Pac-12 North and Utah to win the South for his conference preseason poll.

Stanford

Former Stanford hooper and current star basketball analyst Ros Gold-Onwude writes a piece for Bleacher Report on Chiney Ogwumike. B/R made Ogwumike a part of its POWER 50 list. In Ros' words: "Her boss moves are just beginning, y'all!"

Oregon

B/R also featured Oregon gurad Sabrina Ionescu as part of its POWER 50 list of athletes. Pretty neat stuff for the rising junior in the scope some of the athletes on the list.

Arizona

Matt Hayes of Bleacher Report details how a May tweet from Arizona quarterback Khalil Tate’s about not wanting to run the triple option could “spark a revolutionary change in the NCAA.” 

Washington State

Theo Lawson features Washington State quarterback Gardner Minshew, an ECU transfer who could very well be the Cougs’ opening-week starter.

USC
