Oregon State

A heads up for Beavers fans (you’ve probably heard the news by now, but in case you haven’t) -- Ohio State football coach Urban Meyer has been suspended for three games and will miss the Buckeyes’ season opener against Oregon State following an investigation that found that he incorrectly dealt with domestic assault allegations made against one of his assistants and misrepresented what he knew about the situation in a statement at Big Ten Media Days in July (ESPN). While we’re here, check out John Canzano’s article on the Ohio State-Urban Meyer situation.

Arizona State

Former Arizona State pitcher Ryan Burr was called up to the Chicago White Sox on Wednesday. Burr, who posted an ASU-record 38 saves over the course of his three years in Tempe, was selected by the Arizona Diamondbacks in the fifth round in 2015 before being traded to the White Sox last year.

Stanford

It’s official now – Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson will square off in a winner-take-all $9 million match on Nov. 23 in Las Vegas. You will be able to watch it on PPV or Bleacher Report Live (stream).

Utah

Kurt Kragthorpe spends this article diving into Utah football’s juicy 2018 home schedule, featuring No. 6 Washington, No. 15 USC and No. 24 Oregon, with receiving-votes Arizona coming to town alongside in-state foes Weber State and BYU. He goes as far as saying that “the Utah Utes have the most attractive home football schedule in school history.”

Colorado

Colorado wide receiver Juwan Winfree has been hampered by a hamstring injury, writes Pat Rooney. It has limited him in preseason camp, forcing Winfree to miss an Aug. 11 scrimmage; the hope is that he will be at full strength for the season opener Aug. 31 vs. Colorado State.

Oregon

Andrew Greif notes that Oregon football is hoping to get some clarity on its depth chart as the regular season nears.

UCLA

Ben Bolch of the Los Angeles Times writes that UCLA football coach Chip Kelly will have to lean on the Bruins’ defense for a successful first year in Westwood. Kelly, of course, is known as being an offensive mastermind, but he won’t be winning many games if UCLA gives up 3,736 rushing yards this year like they did in 2017.

Arizona

Wanna know Arizona football coach Kevin Sumlin’s message to Khalil Tate? It’s for Khalil to be himself, per Michael Lev.

California

Cal is in search of inside linebacker depth following the medical retirement of Gerran Brown, writes Rusty Simmons.

Washington

Here’s the latest episode of The Seattle Times’ Husky Headlines podcast. In this installment, Adam Jude catches up with running back Myles Gaskin to discuss the season-opener against Auburn (among other topics).

Washington State

Here’s a glimpse of “The Drive” 2018 season preview featuring Washington State. Full conference-wide episode hits Pac-12 Network Monday night at 7 p.m. PT/8 p.m. MT.

USC

Check out this Pac-12 Network interview with USC long snapper Jake Olson, with Ashley Adamson and Olson detailing his summer (it included driving on the Charlotte Motor Speedway, jumping off the high dive and hitting the driving range).
