Extra Yard for Teachers Week comes to Pac-12 Networks as Pac-12 and College Football Playoff Foundation continue partnership
SAN FRANCISCO – With the fourth annual Extra Yard for Teachers Week taking place from Sept. 15-22, as announced by the College Football Playoff (CFP) Foundation, Pac-12 Networks will be joining in the celebration as the Conference and all 12 of its member institutions plan to recognize and support teachers in their respective communities. The entire week, spanning two weekends, will be featured across Pac-12 Networks programming including over 20 hours of live football coverage this Saturday, Sept. 15.
A staple platform of the CFP Foundation, Extra Yard for Teachers (EYFT) seeks to elevate the teaching profession by inspiring and empowering teachers through the implementation of programs in four focus areas: resources, recognition, recruitment and professional development. The CFP Foundation utilizes multiple partnerships to execute its initiatives and support positive educational outcomes. Created in 2015, the dedicated week for the EYFT platform provides an opportunity for universities, coaches and student-athletes to take part in its overall mission with the Pac-12 being the first Power-Five conference to partner with the CFP Foundation on this initiative.

As part of Extra Yard for Teachers Week, Pac-12 Networks talent will highlight the universities’ activation as well as in-game presentations featuring local teachers on-air. The coverage will also be captured with in-studio programming throughout the week, including “The Pregame,” which airs live from Utah this Saturday, as well as with Pac-12 Networks talent wearing Extra Yard for Teachers signature apple pins. In total, the Pac-12 will provide $150,000 this season across the Conference and its 12 universities, culminating with a special presentation for a local San Francisco Bay Area teacher at the 2018 Pac-12 Football Championship Game (FCG) at Levi's Stadium on Nov. 30, 2018. Following the Pac-12 FCG, Levi's Stadium this year will also be host for the fifth CFP National Championship.
Other elements of the promotion on Pac-12 Networks will include on-air messaging, assets on Pac-12.com and special studio décor this Saturday, Sept. 15 and next Saturday, Sept. 22. In addition, a special feature will run across Pac-12 Networks during the week to promote the initiative with the help of various head coaches and student-athletes.
