California versus Stanford Big Game postponed

Nov 16, 2018

In order to ensure the safety and well-being of student-athletes, fans and university employees, a collaborative decision has been made by Cal, Stanford and the Pac-12 Conference to reschedule the Big Game along with certain other Cal and Stanford athletic competitions due to poor air quality.  This decision was made based upon a variety of important factors, including the Pac-12’s Air Quality Guidelines established by the Pac-12 Health and Well-Being Board, NCAA Sports Science Institute guidelines, local air quality data, and consultation with campus medical and environmental experts.

Our thoughts are with all those impacted by these devastating fires and the countless responders committed to saving lives and bringing the fires under control.

We will continue to work with Cal and Stanford on monitoring the air quality and making decisions in the interest of health and safety of all those involved in our sporting competitions.
