Three ranked Pac-12 gymnastics match-ups this week

SAN FRANCISCO - Katelyn Ohashi of #2 UCLA scored a perfect 10 in her floor routine at the Collegiate Challenge. A video of her performance went viral amassing over 50 million views:

#4 UTAH marked its 40th-consecutive win over instate rival, #6 BYU in the Deseret First Duel.

Madi Dagen, Kristina Peterson, Lexie Gonzales, and Lacy Dagen combined to perform six routines in their collegiate debuts, helping No. 21 Oregon State start its season 3-0.

#19 ASU scored season bests in all four events to secure a team win over Texas Woman’s University.

#24 Stanford earned its second consecutive victory by defeating Sacramento State and Seattle Pacific in a tri-meet on Friday at The Nest.

PAC-12 TEAM NOTES

ARIZONA - Though Arizona fell to No. 10 Arkansas in its first home meet of the season, several GymCats finished on a high note scoring new season high team scores on the vault, balance beam, and floor. Courtney Cowles shined on vault, showing the crowd her twisting vault to earn a 9.800 and earned a new season high score. Jenny Leung and Adra Parks also earned new season highs on vault, both earning a 9.750.

ARIZONA STATE - No. 19 Arizona State beat out the Texas Woman’s University gymnastics squad 195.675 to 193.550 in Denton, Texas on Saturday night ... The Gym Devils earned their best score so far this season with a 195.675. All four event totals were season bests, including the year’s first 49.000 plus score with a 49.050 on the floor.

CALIFORNIA - No. 12 Cal scored a season-high of 196.075 in its second road meet, finishing second out of four teams at the California Grand Invitational’s Collegiate Challenge powered by Under Armour ... The Bears won the vault with a score of 49.200. Toni-Ann Williams (9.825) and Silvie Seilnacht (9.850) both improved their performances from LSU ... The Bears will host cross-town rival, No. 24 Stanford on Jan. 21 in Haas Pavilion.

OREGON STATE - The Beavers won their season-opener with a score of 195.225 knocking off No. 7 Kentucky in a quad meet at Illinois last Sunday ... Sophomore Kaitlyn Yanish performed in the all-around for the first time in her career scoring 38.850 to tie for third in the meet. Fellow sophomore Savanna Force posted the Beavers’ top score in the meet earning a 9.875 on the floor exercise to finish second in the event.

STANFORD - No. 24 Stanford earned its second consecutive victory by defeating Sacramento State and Seattle Pacific in a tri-meet last Friday at The Nest ... After sweeping all four events and the all-around last week, sophomore Kyla Bryant picked up where she left off, prevailing on the uneven bars (9.850) and in all-around (39.175), and finishing second on the balance beam (9.800) and third on vault (9.800).

UCLA - Kyla Ross and Katelyn Ohashi scored perfect 10s to lead No. 2 UCLA to a first-place finish at the 2019 Collegiate Challenge powered by Under Armour. The Bruins totaled 197.700, highlighted by a team floor total of 49.700, the fifth-highest mark in school history.

UTAH - A crowd of nearly 4,000 people in the Marriott Center watched the No. 4 Utah Utes defeat their instate rival, BYU in the Deseret First Duel ... Freshman Adrienne Randall scored a 9.875 from the No. 5 position, clinching the win before MyKayla Skinner hit her school-record 118th routine.

WASHINGTON - In the season’s first meet, the Washington GymDawgs showed well across all four events, ending the night falling just short of a win against #8 Nebraska, 195.550-195.250. The GymDawgs went over 48.800 on three of the four events. Three GymDawgs made their college debut: Geneva Thompson competed on vault, bars, and floor, while Amara Cunningham competed on vault and floor and Brenna Brooks was a part of the lineup for vault, bars, and beam.
