LOS ANGELES – UCLA second baseman Michael Curialle has been named a Freshman All-American by Collegiate Baseball, it was announced on Tuesday morning.

Curialle put together a .325/.357/.525 slash line as a true freshman, adding two doubles and two home runs over 40 at-bats. He becomes the first Bruin infielder to take home Freshman All-America honors since Brandon Crawford in 2006.

The Capistrano Valley, Calif. native started his collegiate career off strong, hitting a two-run homer on Opening Day for his first collegiate hit and ultimately opening up his time at UCLA with a seven-game RBI streak.

He was especially impressive in the team's opening weekend series against UC Riverside, going 5-13 with five RBIs over the three-game set. Curialle was also solid with the glove, making no errors over the course of the season.

As a team, UCLA went 13-2 in 2020 before the season was cut short due to COVID-19. The Bruins ended the season ranked as high as No. 4 nationally and also finished the year with the top RPI nationwide.
