Aug 17, 2020

Athletes Unlimited

Chicago - Husky alumnae Victoria Hayward and Whitney Jones will be a part of the inaugural season of the Athletes Unlimited Softball League. Hayward, a 2014 UW graduate, will play in the new league, while Jones, who also graduated in 2014, will be one of the facilitating coaches.

Athletes Unlimited will feature ever-changing teams and a radically different scoring system. The league is player-run and will take place over a six-week period. The softball season begins August 19 with a 12:00 pm PT launch event on YouTube. Games begin August 30. All games will be streamed live via ESPN3 or CBS Sports.

A four-time All-Pac-12 selection, Hayward has been a part of Team Canada for three different World Championships. She earned All-American honors her final year at Washington. Since then, Hayward has played professionally in the NPF and has served in the coaching ranks at LSU, UMass, and Maryland.

Jones currently serves as a volunteer assistant coach with the Huskies, a role in which she has served since 2018. In that time, the Huskies have made the Women's College World Series every year it has been held. Jones has also served as head coach at Garfield High School since graduating and earned her master's degree from Tulsa.
