Maridoe Invitational Allows For Some Individual Competition

It didn't say Arizona State on the scoreboard and it wasn't a team collegiate event, but it was good to see Sun Devil men's golf names on a Golfstat leaderboard recently.

The 47-player Maridoe Invitational at Maridoe Golf Club (par 72) took place Oct. 18-20 in Carrollton, Texas. Nine Sun Devils played, and four of them finished in the top 10, led by a second-place finish by senior Chun An Yu who shot a 5-over 221 (76-72-73) four shots behind Elis Svard who fired a 4-under 68 in the final round to finish at 1-over 217. Junior Cameron Sisk tied for third at 6-over 227, sophomore Ryggs Johnston tied for fifth at 7-over 223 and sophomore David Puig tied for ninth at 9-over 225.

Sisk led tournament in par-4 scoring going just 2-over with a 4.07 average, while Puig tied for best effort on the par-5 holes shooting 4-under (4.67). Chun An Yu had the most pars in the 54-hole event with 37.

Yu ranks second in the World Amateur Golf Rankings while Sisk is 29th and Puig 36th.
