Water Polo Adds Six on National Signing Day

Tempe, Ariz.- On Wednesday, November 11th head coach Todd Clapper announces that Stevilyn Griffin, Ellie Travisano, Vanda Baksa, and Bianca Becerra have all signed their National Letter of Intent to play water polo at Arizona State in the Fall of 2021. 

 

Stevilyn Griffin (Upland, Calif./ Center and Utility)

 

Stevilyn was a two year Varsity Captain on her water polo team at St. Lucy's High School where she competed in the Baseline League Finals placing both seasons. In 2018 she was named Baseline League First Team "MVP" All League. Also in 2018, she was a USA Water Polo Junior Olympic All American.

 

She is currently on the USA Women's Youth "Academy" Team under Head Coach Ethan Damato. 

Ellie Travisano (Glendora, Calif./Utility)

 

Ellie was a three year captain at Glendora High School where she was awarded MVP in all three seasons. She was First Team All-League in Palomares for all three seasons, and in 2019 she was also named MVP in the Palomares league. 

 

In three consecutive seasons, Ellie broke her school's scoring record with 117, 131, and 141 points, respectively,  in each season. In 2018 Ellie was a CIF Division 5 semi-finalist, and followed in 2019 being a CIF Division 4 finalist where she led her team to the first championship in school history. 

 

Vanda Baksa (Budapest, Hungary)

 

Vanda played for the UVSE water polo team in Hungary where she was also a member of the Hungary National Team. She was a Hungary National Champion in 2018 ans 2019. She was also a Hungary Cup Champion in 2018, and placed second in 2019 and 2020. 

 

Vanda placed second for the LEN Cup in 2018-2019, and she is currently in the Hungarian National Pipeline.

 

Bianca Becerra (Fullerton, Calif./Attack)

 

As a freshman, Bianca was named Varsity Offensive Player of the Year, and Freshman Athlete of the year where she was named to the Trinity League 1st team. In 2018/2019 after transferring to Schurr High School, Bianca was named Varsity Team Rookie of the Year, Division 2 2nd Team All-CIF, and Almont League 1st Team. In 2019/2020, Bianca was placed on the Division 2 1st Team All-CIF, and was named Almont League Co-MVP

 

From 2018-2020 Bianca was a member of the USA Women's Youth "Academy" Team, and she is currently a part of the Youth national Team. In 2019, Bianca was named to the 16u All American 2nd team as a part of the Junior Olympics Awards.
