TUCSON, Ariz. -- After nearly nine months without competition, Arizona men's and women's swimming and diving is set to open the 2020-21 season this week in Tucson.

The Wildcats are set to host Grand Canyon on Thursday, Dec. 3 and Friday, Dec. 4 for a championship-style two-day swim-only meet at Hillenbrand Aquatic Center. The event is closed to the public.

Prelims will take place at 10 a.m. MST both days, with the finals set to take place at 5 p.m. both Thursday and Friday.

This will be the first time the Wildcats compete in the pool since the 2019-20 seasons were canceled due to COVID-19 just days before the NCAA Championships. The Wildcat men were days removed from a second-place finish in the Pac-12 Championship, their highest finish since 1996. Arizona's men finished the season 5-4 in dual meets and was ranked No. 13 in the final CSCAA Top 25. Arizona's women's team went 3-8 in dual meets and finished sixth in the Pac-12 Championships.

Arizona's divers will open the season a day later at the NAU Diving Invite in Flagstaff, Arizona (Dec. 4-6). The remainder of Arizona's 2020-21 schedule will be announced when it becomes available.
