North Carolina A&T Added

Dec 6, 2020

STANFORD, Calif. – Stanford has added a men's basketball contest with North Carolina A&T on Sunday, Dec. 6. Tip-off is set for 11 a.m. PT, and will be broadcast on ESPN3.

The Cardinal has remained in North Carolina following its appearance in the Camping World Maui Invitational, temporarily relocating and training through Dec. 21.

The game marks the first time in program history that Stanford will travel to a historically black college or university (HBCU), and the first time in NC A&T history that it will host a power five opponent.

"We are excited to fill an opening on our schedule with North Carolina A&T", said Jerod Haase, the Anne and Tony Joseph Director of Men's Basketball.  "A visit to one of our nation's top HBCUs was important for us once we realized we would be in this part of the country for a longer period of time."

Stanford's only previous matchup against NC A&T resulted in a 76-59 Cardinal victory on Dec. 15, 2010 at Maples Pavilion.

"These are different times," said N.C. A&T coach Will Jones. "But these times have opened up some unbelievable opportunities. I applaud coach Haase and his program for agreeing to come play at N.C. A&T. They can say they visited one of the top academic institutions in the nation as well as the largest HBCU in the world."

Stanford opened its season Nov. 30-Dec. 2 in the Camping World Maui Invitational, going 1-2 with an 82-64 win over Alabama in the opening round.

Additional scheduling updates will be provided as they become available.
