Omoruyi Named Pac-12 Player Of The Week

Dec 7, 2020

EUGENE, Ore. – Senior forward Eugene Omoruyi has been named Pac-12 Player of the Week after averaging 26.5 points and 7.5 rebounds per game last week in a pair of games in Omaha, Neb.

The Rexdale, Ontario, native scored a career-high 31 points with 11 rebounds in the season-opener Wednesday against Missouri. Not only was his 31 points the most ever by a player in his first game as a Duck, he joined Kansas State's Michael Beasley (2007-08) and North Carolina's Cole Anthony (2019-20) as the only major conference players in the last 25 years to have 30-plus points and 10-plus rebounds in their team debut.

Omoruyi followed the Missouri game with 22 points in the Ducks' win against Seton Hall on Friday. For the week, Omoruyi shot 55.6 percent from the field (20-of-36).

Oregon hosts Eastern Washington Monday at 4 p.m. in the Ducks' 2020-21 home opener (Pac-12 Network).
