Mathurin Named Pac-12 Freshman of the Week

SAN FRANCISCO - The Pac-12 Conference announced on Monday that Arizona freshman Bennedict Mathurin was named the Freshman of the Week as voted by the conference's media.

It marks the sixth time that an Arizona student-athletes has received the Freshman of the Week honor from the conference since the award began at the start of the 2019-20 season.

Mathurin, a native of Montreal, averaged 12.3 points, 5.7 rebounds and 1.3 steals in helping Arizona to three conference wins. In the two games at Washington and Washington State, his averages increased to 18.5 points and 8.5 rebounds.

He scored 13 points, a team high, and grabbed six rebounds in the win at UW, and then followed that up with 24 points and 11 rebounds at Washington State for his first career double-double.
