Gymnastics Picked To Win 2021 Pac-12 Title In Preseason Coaches Poll

Jan 20, 2021

SAN FRANCISCO – Utah gymnastics has been voted by the conference's coaches as the preseason favorite to win the 2021 Pac-12 title, announced today by the Pac-12 Conference office.

The reigning Pac-12 regular season champions received six of the eight first-place votes cast and received 48 points to finish at the top of the poll. UCLA and California each earned a first-place vote, but UCLA narrowly edged out California for second place in the poll with 40 points to Cal's 39 points.

Oregon State (32), Washington (21), Arizona State (20), Arizona (17) and Stanford (7) rounded out this year's Pac-12 preseason coaches poll.

This is the first time since the 2016 season Utah has been picked to finish first. Utah has won three Pac-12 Championships – 2014, 2015, 2017 – and is coming off the conference's first-ever Pac-12 Regular Season Championship in 2020 to bring the total conference title count to four. The Red Rocks finished last year's conference slate 7-0, marking the second time Utah has finished Pac-12 play undefeated in the nine years of competing in the conference.

Utah is set to begin Pac-12 play this Saturday, Jan. 23 against Arizona. The Utes and Wildcats will go head-to-head at 1 p.m. MT and will be televised on the Pac-12 Networks.
